Seeing Melbourne from a different perspective...

Graham and I had the great pleasure of touring Melbourne with a group of Ellen's older students who were visiting. Languange was no barrier - even though we do not speak Japanese and they, little or no English! We visited places that we usually drive pass and entered buildings we take for granted!
A wonderful time was had by all...

Hop farming...

When growing up, we would see many hop farms in the Mytleford and Myhree Valleys but now most is grown in Tasmania and more so, overseas. Recently we saw this healthy crop near Bright, Victoria. I wonder how it is harvested as in the past my peers would pick it by hand. They would come back to school deeply suntanned and their hands very blistered and scratched ...

Grey Water...

Saving the garden means saving the grey water. It seems to be working. My garden sure is not at its best but most of the plants are 'hanging in there'. Collecting from the washing machine has made me very aware of how much water is used per load...
